Green Recipe − Blackened Green Beans

Do not be fooled by the name of this awesome recipe. My family always has this as a side dish for Thanksgiving and Christmas. I promise it will be loved by all.

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds bacon, chopped
  • ½ onion, chopped
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • 3 pounds fresh green beans, trimmed

Cooking Directions

  1. Heat a large pot over medium-high heat. Add bacon, onion and garlic, and cook until browned. Gradually stir in the green beans, stirring to coat with bacon grease. Reduce heat to low, cover, and cook for 5 to 6 hours, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking.
